Summer Living

It's late again and I'm not in bed yet. Bad!

I decided to blog since it's been a while.

So here I am, chilling in Maryland and working at my summer camp in Georgetown Prep. My six-year olds keep me busy and quite drained of energy. My back is killing me; I haven't been taking good enough care of my body. Things like eating and sleeping have been taking the back-burner lately, and yesterday I almost blacked out...but I am happy. I'm so not ready for classes to begin again and the rest of my life to keep on happening...is that terrible? I just want to not be 20 for as long as possible.

Speaking of being 20, my birthday was about a week and a half ago. Since my family went on vacation that weekend, I didn't have a chance to really do things with friends...but it still was a wonderful day just as well. My boyfriend took me out to coffee that morning and my co-workers surprised me with treats and goodies and cakes and cupcakes....and the whole camp sang to me and I wore an amazing hat. It was the smiles and happy celebrations like as if it was a national holiday that made me feel super special. My aftercare kids made me cards, which made me smile.

I love people who love me.

So tomorrow my grandparents are taking me to a fund-raising event for a politician here in Maryland for my birthday outing. I'm pretty excited...they've known this dude's mom since they've met.

In other news, Fidel Castro made it into the news yesterday. Interesting.

Anyways, I got a ticket this past weekend! Wah :( Court date is next month. I feel bad because I was with Julia-Anne and she had to deal with my foolishness. Buuuuuuuuuuuut...I did get to see Despicable Me.

To do:
-make lunch so don't die tomorrow
-shower
-wash dishes
-fill out paperwork
-get clothes for tomorrow

Good night blog!!!

The Most Beautiful Thing Ever

It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness;
He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you;
He is the beauty to which you are so attracted;
it is He who provoked you with that thirst for fullness
that will not let you settle for compromise;
it is He who urges you to shed the masks of a false life;
it is He who reads in your heart your most genuine choices,
the choices that others try to stifle.

It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire
to do something great with your lives,
the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves
to be ground down by mediocrity,
the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently
to improving yourselves and society,
making the world more human and more fraternal.

Bum.

I'm sitting here, not doing my back exercises and daydreaming.

I feel pretty bad because I missed my doctors appointment by accidentally sleeping in. Bad girl, bad bad girl. Now I gotta talk to my job tomorrow because this thing is due SOON. I hope they let me work...wah.

It's summer, truly truly truly.

The Good Stuff

Today was pretty chill. Woke up, ate breakfast, chilled, and went to Arlington for my friend Andrea's birthday!!!!! Yahhoooo. She's nineteen, and I'm jealous. I only have a few weeks left of being a teenager.

I kind of want to do stereotypical teenager-y things....maybe shout to the world that they don't understand or wear a prom dress or have a MySpace photoshoot or ...I don't know.

Honestly, I feel like I'm still going to be a teenager even when I'm not. I'm too young of a person to want to grow up, and as mature as I am I feel like a child. I think it's the maturity that wants to cherish every joyful moment.

Anyways, it has come to my attention that I should probably blab about how the name of my blog came to be. The name, "The Good Stuff," was actually inspired by the Kenny Chesney song that I love so so much!!!! The title is a reminder of what things in life, as simple as they may be, are truly significant to the human heart.

'Cause it's the first long kiss on a second date.
Momma's all worried when you get home late.
And droppin' the ring in the spaghetti plate,
'Cause your hands are shakin' so much.
An' it's the way that she looks with the rice in her hair.
n' eatin' burnt suppers, the whole first year,
An' askin' for seconds to keep her from tearin' up.
Yeah, man, that's the good stuff.

"'Cause the one thing stronger than the whiskey:

"Was the sight of her holdin' my baby girl.
"The way she adored that string of pearls,
"I gave her the day that our youngest boy, Earl,
"Married his high school love."
"An' it's a new tee-shirt saying: 'I'm a Grandpa'.
"Bein' right there as our time got small,
"An' holdin' her hand, when the Good Lord called her up,
"Yeah, man, that's the good stuff."

So, on Thursday I move to Maryland for camp. I'm excited, yet sad that I'm leaving good ole' Virginia. I'm gonna have to start packing and planning things to bring. Wah. Packing always stresses me out.

Errr, it's 3 in the morning and I want to wake up at a decent time. Wayyyyy to go me....

Goals for the morning:
  • make a packing list
  • back exercises
  • Economics studying...
Alright...gonna get a snack and sleep. Gnight.

Little Moments

My Godson

Today, my lil godson a.k.a. baby brother Javi fell asleep in my arms for the first time in forever.

It was awesome.

Little kids are the cutest people, and when they sleep it's just amazing.

Another cool thing that happened was that I had a really great experience after Mass that made me quite happy. I really like my confirmation saint, Therese is mah girl.

Now, I'm really tired and my head kinda hurts..so I'm gonna go sleep now.

Night!

"Gift of God"

Flowers: Gift of God

Good Evening!

So tonight, I got the loveliest surprise at about 10:23pm: flowers and a card left by a mysterious young lad! :)

Okay, he's not necessarily mysterious, but he is a quite a wonderful young lad though...I think I'll keep him. ;)

This is a song he likes and was trying to learn how to play:

Today, I went to a Deaconate Mass for his friend who now is a deacon in the church! Yahhooooo! I haven't been at a Deaconate Mass since my uncle became a deacon. Unfortunately, I never got to attend his priest ordination. :( Wah.

So uh, today, I did a bunch of prayers of gratituuuuuudddeeee. I'm really grateful for blessings. I'm really grateful for God's beautiful will, and I can't wait to see what other cool things He might thrown in my direction.

Yeah dude. I really need to do the dishes....so I shall.

Good night <3

"Nice Window"

My Really Awesome Window

It's Memorial Day Weekend!
Show the Armed Forces you care.

Thank you Daddy for your service, thank you Mami for supporting Daddy and holding the family together on the Home Front. Thank you ME and my siblings for being AWESOME....just like all the other military brats.

The reason why I have a picture of my really awesome window is because I was recently reminded on how much I appreciate my window and room. My window is pretty, my room is amazingly tight, and my closet is sick. I love my room.

Today, although it was Sunday, we had our family BBQ for Memorial Day. I had a cheeseburger, texted, chit-chatted away with the family, watched movies, played CAPITALISM (great card game), and of course......drank espresso coffee made by the men of the house..this time my little brother Ricky. It's the tradition in our family for the guys to make the coffee for everyone. I love it.

I also went to Mass earlier in the morning with my friend Matt. It was pretty tight, and we went to Einstein Bagels. Their cream cheese is more expensive than the actual bagels. Gotta love them tricks of the bagel trade....we also went to my house and watched Star Wars on Spike. Epic. I miss Star Wars...

TOMORRRROOWWW.....the family's leaving for VA Beachhhhhh. YAY!

I'm a beach bum. To the max. We're leaving at like 5 in the morning and come back at about 11 at night. Yahoooo for day trips.

Here's a song that makes me smile, it's just so cute-sounding. I especially dig his multi-colored jacket. Alot.

K done byes.
Happy Memorial Day!!!
